This is a preview version of PabloDraw v3.0. This release is considered unstable. This means that you may lose your work if it doesn’t save correctly.

PabloDraw is an art viewer for many formats such as ANSI, ASCII, RIP, XBin, jpeg, png, etc. It can also be used to draw RIP, ANSI, ASCII, and XBin formats.

PabloDraw uses the awesome Eto.Forms cross-platform framework to provide native UI for each platform with a single set of code.

pablo draw for linux has a win32 version instead and a readme.ans. should be .txt

    • Curtis Wensley

The linux version is an .EXE that must be run via mono under linux (http://mono-project.com/). Please see the Additional Notes section above.

The readme.ans is an ANSI file that can be loaded with PabloDraw. I may include a .txt version, but the ansi looks so much better.

    Hi Eto!

Nice job on PB 3.0 for OSX! :)

I’ve just tested it and seems like the F8, F9, F10 character keys are not working, even with the System Preferences setup as required. All the other keys work as expected.

I’ve also missed the VGA Preview window. :)

Is it possible to dual view the normal drawing window with a vga preview window? That helps a lot while drawing.

    Great job!

    • Curtis Wensley

Thanks! the F-keys are probably mapped to something in System Prefs > Keyboard Shortcuts (e.g. Expose is F9 usually). Alternatively, just click on the character in PabloDraw and it’ll insert it.

The VGA preview window is coming! It’ll be similar to the old PabloDraw for windows where it can be shown while you draw. For now though, you can adjust the zoom level and draw while zoomed out.

Nice… glad you’re still doing work on this… do you support loading/saving to synchronet’s ctrl-a codes, or renegade’s pipe codes? that would be pretty cool too.

    • Curtis Wensley

      Not at the moment, but I was planning on adding Ctrl-a codes due to a few people asking for them. Will probably be in the next version or so. (;

PabloDraw stopped working for me after upgrading to Lion (OS X). Any ideas/timeframe for an update/fix?

    • Curtis Wensley

Hopefully in the next week or two. The tool I’m using (MonoMac) to build the native OS X version has not yet been updated to work on Lion, so I have to wait for that to work before I can release a Lion-compatible version.

  • Darthyutsi1

I use the old PabloDraw at school, as it doesn’t require .NET Framework 4.0. I put the .ans file on Dropbox, and saved it to my laptop. Now, when I open it, the background is black (which I can’t seem to change), and this causes my black characters to not show up, even if I do ctrl-a. How do I fix this short of downgrading?

    • Anonymous

You are probably referring to ‘notepad mode’ of the old version?  If you double click on the black colour, it should bring up a palette editor so you can change the black colour to white.  Unfortunately, this will not show your black characters either, as they will be white as well.

I will look at adding notepad mode to the next version!

  • Fatal Exception

This thing is awesome, but copy/paste on always mangles the image. Usually it seems the full height is never pasted. Example below. I’m using OS X.

Sorry, that looks fine to me, but I have no idea what you copied so I don’t know what the issue might be.  Try selecting all before copying (Cmd+A), then Cmd+C to copy.
